Maurizio Sarri slams the level of officiating in the Premier League after Chelseas loss to Liverpool

Maurizio Sarri has blasted the standard of officiating in the Premier League by suggesting that the referees in the competition arent even good enough for the Championship.

Chelsea were beaten 2-0 by Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday with Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah netting for the hosts in the space of just over two minutes shortly after half-time.

Sarri, though, was disappointed at referee Michael Olivers failure to award his side a free-kick in the lead-up to Manes opening goal, believing that left-back Emerson Palmieri had been fouled by Salah before the Senegalese forward nodded in from Jordan Hendersons cross.

The result has dented Chelseas top-four hopes and while Sarri acknowledged that Liverpool deserved their win, he could not contain his frustration at some of the refereeing decisions made on the day.

In my opinion, there was a foul on Emerson, but I think the level in Premier League is the best in the world but not for the referees, Sarri said.

I think the level of the referees is not in line with the Championship.

Maybe the referee was right, I dont want to say anything about it, but my feeling from the bench was that there was a foul. But, of course, Liverpool deserved to win.
