Jamie Carragher believes Liverpool should revert back to a 4-2-3-1 formation rather than their favoured 4-3-3 line-up from recent weeks.

Liverpool lost for the first time in the Premier League this season on Thursday night after Manchester City claimed a hard-fought 2-1 victory over the Reds.

Citys victory meant they are now just four points behind Jurgen Klopps side, with a total 51 points left to play for this season.

Despite still sitting top of the division, club legend Jamie Carragher is adamant Liverpool should now switch up their formation despite only losing one game in the league.

Liverpool need to get back to 4231, Carragher said on social media. I can understand 433 tonight but it didnt work and we need to move away from it.

Enjoyed the game not the result! The intensity from Man City in midfield was excellent with Fernandinho & Bernardo Silva the two best players on the pitch. LFC need to get back to 4231, I can understand 433 tonight but it didnt work & we need to move away from it. #cityliv
