Gary Neville picks Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Vincent Kompany in team of the season

Tuesday, May 1, 2018

Gary Neville is a big fan of Liverpool's Roberto Firmino, as he explained when picking his Premier League team of the season.

While team-mate Mohamed Salah has, rightly so, been named Player of the Season and taken a lot of credit this term, the Brazilian has been just as vital.

"I think if you're [Manchester City manager] Pep Guardiola you'd want him as your striker in terms of the way [Gabriel] Jesus plays and the runs forward but also the runs back," he told Sky Sports.

"Jose Mourinho would want him at Manchester United, I think Real Madrid would want him, Barcelona would want him. He doesn't get the credit that Salah has had this season, but for me, Firmino should be in [the team of the season]."

Firmino has been directly involved in 42 goals for Liverpool this season (27 goals, 15 assists); two more than in his previous two seasons combined and recently signed a new long-term contract at the club.
