Southampton v Chelsea: Confirmed team news and preview ahead of Premier League clash

Champions League qualification appears out of reach for Chelsea now, as they travel to face a Southampton side fighting to stay in the Premier League.

The Saints are in trouble sitting 18th and three points adrift from safety, but the Blues are hardly in top form having been beaten by Tottenham and held to a 1-1 draw by West Ham.

Chelsea will still be playing for pride, but the home side's motivation is clear cut.

What the managers are saying:

Mark Hughes: "We have to prepare as if Chelsea are going to be at their best, with their best players available.

"If they have a poor period, more often than not top teams bounce back so we're not working towards the weekend thinking that Chelsea are going to be under par."

Antonio Conte: "Southampton have great quality, and it's a great surprise to see them in this position.

"I consider their squad one with great quality, and talented players; it won't be easy to play against them."
