Olivier Giroud scored twice as Chelsea produced a remarkable comeback

Antonio Contes side started the game poorly, as the Saints threatened with crosses from the left hand side early on.
The Blues failed to heed their oppositions early warnings when Ryan Bertrand broke forward on the left in the 21st minute. The former Chelsea man continued his run all the way to the byline before cutting back for Dusan Tadic to tap home, giving his team the lead.
A response was not forthcoming from the Londoners as their lacklustre performance continued into the second half. Debutant Jan Bednarek volleyed home from an exceptional James Ward-Prowse free kick to double the home sides advantage.
However, two quick goals from Olivier Giroud and Eden Hazard quickly changed the mood in the 70th and 75th minutes.
Girouds header from a Marcos Alonso cross and Hazards finish from a Willian pull-back changed the momentum of the game entirely, allowing the Frenchman to then slam home the winner with 78 minutes gone.
Chelsea saw out the victory to put a dent in Southampton's hopes of Premier League survival.
Star man – Olivier Giroud
It must be said that Chelsea were absolutely hopeless for the first 70 minutes of this match. Giroud came on just after the hour mark and changed the entire course of the game by heading home from a Marcos Alonso cross. He smashed the winner past Alex McCarthy eight minutes later to seal the Blues revival.
Moment of the match
Chelsea looked dead and buried at 2-0, but they were given hope when Olivier Giroud headed in after 70 minutes. This moment inspired the Blues to go on and make an impressive comeback.
