Ryan Sessegnon latest: Manchester United want to sign 17-year-old Fulham star, but Tottenham are still favourites

Manchester United will try to convince Ryan Sessegnon to move to Old Trafford this summer, according to reports.

However, it is claimed Tottenham are still favourites to land the 17-year-old if he decides to leave Fulham.

Sessegnon is one of the most in-demand players in England ahead of the summer transfer window due to his brilliant season for the Cottagers.

Having begun as a left-back, Sessegnon is now played on the left wing by manager Slavisa Jokanovic and has scored 15 goals for the Premier League promotion hopefuls.

He also enjoyed a clean sweep at the recent EFL Awards – winning Championship Player of the Year, Young Player of the Season, Apprentice of the Year, and was named in the Team of the Season and the EFL Club Developed XI. Top of Form

Fulham currently sit third in the Championship table, just one point off an automatic promotion place with two games remaining.

Sessegnon has already insisted he wants to stay and play for Fulham in the Premier League if they go up, either automatically or via the play-offs.

But if the west London club suffer heartbreak in their pursuit of Premier League football, it has been suggested the youngster could look to leave for a top flight club.

According to The Times, Manchester United will look to bring the England Under-21 international to Old Trafford if he seeks to leave Craven Cottage.

But The Sun have claimed Tottenham are still leading the race to land Sessegnon, who is said to prefer to remain in London if he switches clubs.

United manager Jose Mourinho is on the market for a new left-back this summer as he seeks to replace Luke Shaw, who is expected to leave when the window opens.

But Sessegnon is no longer considered a full-back, having flourished in a more attacking role for Fulham this season.
