Mauricio Pochettino insists Tottenham Hotspur need to win a trophy ‘with him or another’ after Manchester United defeat

Is Pochettino suggesting his time with Tottenham could be coming to an end?

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has suggested his future may not be in north London after he conceded the club need to start winning trophies.

Pochettino watched on despondently from the Wembley touchline as Spurs surrendered a first-half lead to lose 2-1 to Manchester United in the FA Cup semi-final on Saturday.

Dele Alli opened the scoring for the Londoners, but an excellent Alexis Sanchez header and a great strike form Ander Herrera sent the Lilywhites crashing out.

And the former Southampton boss has finally admitted the club need to start bringing in silverware, having not won a major trophy since the 2008 League Cup Final triumph.

On Friday, Pochettino insisted the club did not need to win trophies to reach 'the next level', but has since changed his tune.

"We need to be realistic," he said.

"At some time of course, we are victims of our own success because we won in four years a lot of individual awards but still we need to win a collective trophy.

"But the only way is to keep going – with me or with another – but the only way is to keep going in this direction.

"The club is doing the right things , and to keep pushing."

For Spurs, their attention now turns back to the Premier League, where they are fourth – five points ahead of Chelsea and with a game in hand on Liverpool above them.
