Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea has kept more clean sheets this season than in any previous season at Old Trafford.

The Spaniard, widely recognised as the best goalkeeper in the world, has kept an astonishing 21 clean sheets in 41 matches in all competitions this season.

De Gea previously kept 20 clean sheets in the 2015/16 season but hes now beaten that feat with at least five matches to go in this campaign.

United survived a penalty scare in their 2-0 win on the south coast but held on to record their 21st clean sheet of the season.

United are hopeful of agreeing a new deal with De Gea with the Spaniards current deal set to expire in two years time.

Real Madrid are long-term admirers of the former Atletico Madrid stopper but United believe they can convince De Gea to end his career at the Theatre of Dreams.

De Gea will be hoping for his 22nd clean sheet of the season at Wembley on Saturday when United take on Spurs in the FA Cup semi-final.

Uniteds season rests on their success in the competition but they face an in-form Spurs side and would face one of Southampton or Chelsea in the final.
