Crystal Palace 5-0 Leicester: Roy Hodgson’s men on the verge of survival after thrashing of Foxes

Crystal Palace are on the brink of Premier League safety after a spectacular 5-0 win at home to ten-man Leicester.

It's a remarkable achievement for the south London club who were tipped for relegation after losing their opening seven Premier League games without scoring a single goal.

Palace are now six points clear of the drop, where only Southampton can catch up with them.

The game also sees the pressure build on under fire Leicester boss Claude Puel.

But this was Palace's day and talisman Wilfried Zaha got the ball rolling for the Eagles, before he set up James McArthur in the first-half.

Marc Albrighton was dismissed for a professional foul on the Ivorian and then Roy Hodgson's men ran riot with goals from Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Patrick van Aanholt, and a Christian Benteke's penalty.

STAR MAN

Palace were on song throughout the game against their abject opponents but the star man has to be Wilfried Zaha.

Without him, Palace would without a doubt be going down and it was his goal which set them on their way to what turned out to be an easy win.

MOMENT OF THE MATCH

It was a plesant game for Palace fans to watch but the best moment of the game saw Christian Benteke score his first league goal at Selhurst Park this season.

The Belgian has been very low on confidence this season but that penalty right at the end will hopefully lay some demons of his to rest.
