Arsene Wenger has indicated he would approve of Luis Enrique succeeding him at Arsenal.

It was announced last week that the Frenchman is due to stand down at the end of the season and the Gunners are currently searching for a new manager.

Former Barcelona coach Enrique is currently the favourite with bookmakers.

Asked for his opinion on the Spaniard, Wenger said: I have a high opinion of him but I do not want to influence the job of the next manager.

Of course I have a high opinion on Enrique.

Reports suggest Arsenal could find themselves in a tussle with Chelsea for the services of Enrique with their London rivals set to replace Antonio Conte.

Its also been reported that the 47-year-old, who won the Champions League during his time at Camp Nou, will demand as much as £15million-a-year to replace Wenger.
