The full-back has performed well during his first season with the Portuguese club, starting 22 games in the top flight.
And his form has not gone unnoticed across Europe with Arsenal, West Ham and Juve all said to be monitoring his situation closely.
But, according to Portuguese newspaper Jornal do Noticias, it is the Gunners who are currently in the driving seat to land him, despite the news that Arsene Wenger will leave this summer.
Sporting signed Italian Piccini from Real Betis for just £2.6 million last year but they stand to make a huge profit with Arsenal reportedly ready to pay £17.5m to secure his signature.
The 25-year-old right-back could be set to either challenge or replace current right-back Hector Bellerin.
In the past, Juventus were said to be watching the Spaniard, as well as former side Barcelona.
