The January transfer window is nearly upon us and here at talkSPORT we are bracing ourselves for a busy month of player activity.
Premier League clubs smashed the summer spending record for a sixth consecutive year after splashing out £1.4billion during the months of July and August.
Virgil van Dijk’s imminent £75million move to Liverpool from Southampton equals the division’s biggest summer outlay, and there could be further big name signings to come.
When does the transfer window open in England?
Clubs will already have started doing their business and looking to improving upon their performance in the second half of the season. But the 2018 winter window officially opens on January 1.
The international calendar is clear, which will come as a relief to clubs who are looking to reinforce their squads in the winter window.
When does the winter transfer window close?
Deadline Day will take place at 11pm on Wednesday, January 31, and talkSPORT will have all the biggest moves covered throughout the day.
Deals can be agreed on that day and some paperwork can even be concluded on February 1.
But some clubs may want to stay clear of a late trolley dash as they remind themselves of Leicester City’s failure to register Adrien Silva in time, who missed out on an official move by seconds.
