Homemade edible gifts can make for a perfect present.
They’re thoughtful, they’re made by your own fair hands, and they’re cheap.
But it can be tricky if the intended recipient is vegan.
But don’t worry – these recipes are easy, quick, delicious, and completely vegan – and you can make a great big stack of them to present to all of your friends, whether they’re vegan or not.
Chocolate peanut butter bark
200g dairy-free dark chocolate
1 tbsp smooth peanut butter
1 tsp coconut oil
1 tsp maple syrup
Toppings – peanuts and dairy-free chocolate chips
In a small bowl, mix together the peanut butter, coconut oil and maple syrup.
Microwave this mixture for a few seconds to help combine all the ingredients.
Break up the dark chocolate into smaller pieces and add to a heatproof bowl.
Place the bowl over a small pan of gently simmering water, ensuring the bottom of the bowl doesn’t touch the water, and leave to melt.
Pour the melted chocolate into a square 20cm (8in) cake tin that’s lined with parchment paper.
Drizzle the peanut butter mixture on top and start creating swirls using a toothpick or cocktail stick.
Sprinkle the peanuts and chocolate chips on top.
Refrigerate for at least an hour or until the chocolate has set.
Spiced maple roasted nuts
1/2 tsp chilli powder
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp salt
3 tbsp maple syrup
Preheat your oven to 180°C/160°C fan assisted.
Add all the nuts to a large bowl along with the chilli, cinnamon, garlic and salt. Give everything a quick mix.
Pour over the maple syrup and mix again ensuring that all the nuts are well coated.
Spread on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper and bake for 15-20 minutes, giving it a stir half way through.
Leave to cool completely.
