Ribery pleased with winning return

Cape Town – Bayern Munich forward Franck Ribery claims his first start in two months in the 3-1 win over Paris-Saint Germain in the Champions League on Tuesday evening was a 'prestige victory'.

Robert Lewandowski opened the scoring in the eighth minute for the Bundesliga Champions before Corentin Tolisso doubled the lead before the break.

The attacking trio of Ribery, James Rodriguez and Kingsley Coman looked threatening all evening at the Allianz as Die Roten looked to avenge their 3-0 defeat earlier this season to the Ligue 1 giants.

Despite Kylian Mbappe pulling a goal back in the second-half, Tolisso completed the scoring with his second of the evening, finishing off a swift counter-attack in the 69th minute.

"I'm pleased I made the starting line-up for the first time in two months," Ribery said after the game. "The team turned in a good display.

"The victory was nice and crucial for us and for the fans. You always want to win your home matches. It was a prestige victory."
