Pirates keen on NFD ‘Messi’ – reports

Cape Town – Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila midfielder Monde Mpambaniso is reportedly on the radar of Orlando Pirates, with Ajax Cape Town and AmaZulu also said to be interested.

The diminutive Mpambaniso has netted four goals in 13 matches from midfield in the National First Division (NFD) this season.

"Orlando Pirates are interested in Monde Mpambaniso from TTM. He used to be their player in the development," claimed an unnamed source as quoted by Soccer Laduma website.

"He played for Yebo Yes during his time with the club. As Pirates have been keen on having some of the players they developed back at the club, Monde's name has made it onto their wish list."

The source has no doubts that Mpambaniso would be an asset to any top-flight club in South Africa.

"It's Pirates, AmaZulu and Ajax Cape Town that are showing interest in the player. The boy is on form and scoring goals for TTM.

"His story is amazing. He is not the tallest of players but the talent he possesses is incredible. The shortest man on the field in most games is the one who has been scoring goals week in and week out.

"He reminds me of (Lionel) Messi."
