Monaco remain adamant they will not sell Thomas Lemar during the January transfer window, despite serious interest from a clutch of heavyweight Premier League sides.
The France international is reported to have made Liverpool his preferred choice, but excited Arsenal fans earlier this week when he liked a post on Instagram suggesting he was set to sign for the Gunners.
Chelsea, meanwhile, have reportedly identified Lemar as the perfect addition to a forward line that lacks strength in depth and are prepared to offer Michy Batshuayi on loan as part of the deal.
Monaco, however, who allowed the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Benjamin Mendy and Tiemoue Bakayoko to leave in the summer, are unwilling to permit another of the stars who brought them an unlikely Ligue 1 title success last season to leave any time soon.
‘The sales of important players is not on the agenda,’ said Monaco vice-president Vadim Vasilyev.
‘We have never spoken [to Lemar or his agent] about the possibility of a January departure.
‘The team needs stability. We have re-found a positive dynamic. Now is not the time to break it.’
