Manchester United's wretched run of form continued after they were held to a goalless draw by Southampton at Old Trafford.

The match was overshadowed by an injury sustained by Romelu Lukaku, who was forced off on a stretcher after 12 minutes.

In a game of few chances, Jesse Lingard pleaded for a penalty after his flick struck Maya Yoshida's hand but referee Craig Pawson was unmoved.

At the other end, David De Gea's great reflex save denied Shane Long a goal early in the second-half, while Paul Pogba's late effort was ruled out for offside.
