Chelsea boss Antonio Conte lauds focus of his players after Stoke thrashing

The Blues cruised to a 5-0 win at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte felt his side showed their powers of concentration following their 5-0 thrashing of Stoke City at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues raced into a three goal lead after 25 minutes to all but secure three points against Mark Hughes’ hapless Potters outfit.

But the Blues continued their relentless attacking approach in the second half despite their commanding lead as they moved into second place in the Premier League.

And Conte felt his side’s professional and focused approach deserved to be praised in what was a routine victory for the champions.

“It’s not simple but we are working on this aspect [staying focused],” Conte told talkSPORT.

“It is very important to keep your head in the game because in England if you concede an opportunity to your opponent, anything can happen.

“You must pay attention in every moment. For us it was important to get three points today and to keep a clean sheet in a good game for us.”

Manchester City look certain to be crowned champions at the end of the season as the Blues have struggled to keep up with the division’s runaway leaders.

Pep Guardiola’s side can break a host of records, including Chelsea’s 30 league wins in a single season, but Conte reflected on what has been a memorable 2017 for both him and the club.

“This year has been incredible for me and the players and our fans,” Conte added.

“It was my first experience in a new league – a new language – and to win the title in my first season was a remarkable achievement for me.”
