PlatinumGames have officially started work on a third Bayonetta game, in one of The Game Awards’ biggest announcements.
The Game Awards has not disappointed in terms of new game announcements, as Bayonetta 3 is confirmed to be a Switch exclusive published by Nintendo.
There’s almost nothing to glean from the pre-rendered teaser trailer, with only a hint at what seems to be some form of ghostly enemy.
You can see that Bayonetta has her beehive hairdo back though, something which series creator Hideki Kamiya hinted to us would happen back when we spoke to him in June 2016 (when he also hinted at an Okami sequel, which is doubly interesting given the original is getting an HD re-release this month).
What was also hinted at a long time ago, was bringing Bayonetta 1 and 2 to Switch – which is also something that’s happening.
And while there’s no clue of a release date for Bayonetta 3, Bayonetta 1 and 2 will be arriving on February 16 in America.
Bayonetta 2 will be available as a cartridge, with Bayonetta 1 only as a digital download. The latter will presumably be based on the version released for the Wii U, which included a number of Nintendo-specific additions and a better camera.
There’ll also be something called the Non-Stop Climax Edition which includes a SteelBook case, 22 art cards, and three sets of stickers. But so far that’s only confirmed for Japan.
