A source who correctly leaked information about Battlefield 1 claims to know what DICE are planning for their next game.
Whether you have insider information or not, Bad Company 3 is still the obvious guess for what the next Battlefield is going to be.
Even though it’s been seven years since the last one, the sub-series is still one of the most popular with fans. A new sequel would presumably involve a return to the modern era, and a refocus on the sort of destruction effects the franchise used to be famous for.
And according to YouTuber AlmightyDaq, that’s more or less what is happening.
He claims that Bad Company 3 won’t actually be modern day though, but set between the Vietnam War and the end of the Cold War. Although apparently the game is not concerned with historical accuracy, in its story at least.
The multiplayer will allegedly return to focus on smaller maps than the last few Battlefields, but still with traditional game modes such as Conquest, Rush, Operations, Domination, and Team Deathmatch.
There will be at least one new mode though: a 5v5 option similar to Squad Obliteration from Battlefield 4.
Vehicles are what you’d expect given the era, including period tanks and helicopters; while the four main classes are Assault, Engineer, Support, and Recon.
Apparently the Battlepack loot box system may return but microtransactions won’t, thanks to the response to Star Wars: Battlefront II. Although that seems almost too good to be true, and is perhaps the most unbelievable part of the story.
The game will supposedly be at E3 next year, ahead of a Christmas 2018 release, but may be revealed before that.
Whoever AlmightyDaq is they’re not really a traditional YouTuber as they only have three videos, two of which are rumours about future Battlefield games.
But with Battlefield 1 he not only got the name and setting right but even some of the filenames of maps, so he clearly either works at developer DICE or knows somebody that does.
That doesn’t mean he isn’t making things up this time, but it does all seem very plausible.
