The Blues moved level on points with second-placed Manchester United thanks to their 3-1 win against Huddersfield on Tuesday night.
Conte’s side trail league leaders Manchester City by 11 points – having played a game more – leaving the Italian with little hope of retaining his title.
But Conte praised his players for picking themselves up after suffering a disappointing defeat away to West Ham on the weekend.
“A great team like Chelsea must have the responsibility to get three points in every game,” Conte told talkSPORT.
“I think this must be our idea in every game to do our best to get three points. And don’t forget, in the last nine games, we won seven games, drew against Liverpool and lost to West Ham.
“Our path is a great path. But there is a team [Manchester City] and it is very hard to stop them.”
The reigning champions have suffered four defeats this season, one fewer than their five losses in the last campaign, and have focused their efforts on securing Champions League qualification.
Chelsea travelled to a Huddersfield side who had picked up three victories in their previous four home fixtures in the lead up to the clash.
And Conte took particular delight with a dominant performance at the Kirklees Stadium against David Wagner’s side.
“From the start I had a good response from my players,” Conte added.
“When you see this type of football; we must be pleased. I think my players enjoyed tonight because we had a lot of possession but also created the chances to score.
“The only negative was to concede a goal at the end of the game.”
