Ajax’s Prince to replace Castro at Sundowns?

Cape Town – Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Pitso Mosimane is reportedly keen on signing want-away Ajax Cape Town marksman Prince Nxumalo.

Despite being fit, Nxumalo has been used very sparingly this season by Ajax coach Stanley Menzo, who was sacked on Thursday.

Menzo recently admitted that the striker had gone 'AWOL', with the player's agent also being quoted saying that Nxumalo wants to leave the Urban Warriors.

The Brazilians meanwhile are a striker (or two) light, especially after Leonardo Castro left for Kaizer Chiefs last weekend.

"Sundowns want to sign Nxumalo," claimed an unnamed source as quoted by IOL website.

"Sundowns boss Pitso Mosimane has already met with Nxumalo. He has made his intention very clear about working with him.

"The boy also is keen on joining Sundowns. Ajax want a million so that they can release him. Bidvest Wits (are) also monitoring his situation."

A R1 million price tag would be very appealing to either Sundowns or Wits, both teams regularly spending far larger sums to bring in players.

However, it will remain to be seen if newly-arrived Ajax coach Muhsin Ertugral is happy to allow Nxumalo to leave or if he has plans to bring him back into the squad.

The striker's contract with the Cape side has another six months to run.
