In recent weeks, Jose Mourinho's defensive approach against tricky opposition has been criticised, even though his tactics have been getting the results.

Wins over Tottenham and Benfica have particularly upset some, as they were far from the most stylish of victories seen at Old Trafford.

But does it really matter how the points are won when improvements have clearly been made from the home form seen under David Moyes and Louis van Gaal?

A comparative look at the Premier League records of the three managers on home turf shows the club have made significant improvements under Mourinho.

It might look as though draws have been the problem for Mourinho, but all 10 of those were recorded in his first season. This term they've been flawless at the Theatre of Dreams. They've won five out of five, have scored 15 and are yet to concede.

Too often Mourinho's tactics are considered boring, but there can surely be few complaints if they end the campaign with more silverware to add to their cabinet.
