The solidity is absent and the number of individual mistakes is colossal. The first port of call for David Moyes – above all else – is to fix the defending. His experiences at Everton suggest he knows how to set up a solid foundation yet at Sunderland it was a very different story. He must get this right if he is to have any success.

Rightly or wrongly David Moyes has a shot at redemption at West Ham.
After the Hammers decided to part company with Slaven Bilic on Monday, it was a surprise to see the former Everton and Manchester United boss selected as the man to steady the ship after taking Sunderland down last season.
The 54-year-old probably didn’t expect to get another chance at a Premier League side so soon – let alone ever – but he now needs to give it his all if he is to restore his reputation.
With his first game the away trip to Watford on Sunday afternoon here are five things the Scot needs to do if he is going to succeed at West Ham.
