Stuart Pearce playing for West Ham

Stuart Pearce has denied making any contact with West Ham United after reports suggested the former defender was set to join David Moyes’ coaching staff.
Slaven Bilic was fired as manager of the Hammers on Monday and talkSPORT sources understand former Everton, Manchester United and Sunderland manager Moyes will take over on Tuesday until the end of the season.
The Scot will inherit a disjointed, troubled squad from Bilic and it was widely believed that ex-England defender Pearce would be brought in as a coach to add some much needed steel.
Pearce – who has 78 England caps – is also no stranger to management having been head coach of both Manchester City and the England Under-21s in the past.
“I’ve had no contact with West Ham if that’s what you mean,” the former defender told Kick Off.
“But if I had contact with them I would certainly go and talk to them.”
When asked if he knew Moyes well Pearce responded: “Well enough of course.
“We are members of the same union don’t you know. He tried to sign me when he was at Preston actually.
“I really enjoy doing the media work but then again I enjoy coaching – I’ve been at a club today coaching.”
On a separate note Pearce also had words of praise for departing West Ham boss Bilic.
“I must say as well I think Slaven has conducted himself with great dignity over what’s gone on,” he said.
“It means a great deal to him to represent West Ham you can tell that.”
