Yesterday, we wrote about a new, gin-infused cream that’ll make the perfect addition to any mince pie this Christmas.

Well, except this savoury mince pie, which will go down a treat with cheese-lovers.

Cheese, and pickle lovers: this one’s for you.

Branston Pickle has created a range of cheese and pickle-filled mince pies, combining cheesy pastry with Branston pickle to put a savoury twist on a Christmas classic.

The limited edition mince pies are said to offer ‘cheese and pickle lovers a treat beyond the Christmas cheeseboard’.

Branston worked alongside Lily Vanilli, a baker from East London, to create the new range.

Of course, at first, cheese and pickle mince pies don’t sound like much. In fact, they sound pretty odd. But the ingredients used to make them has convinced us otherwise.

Each mince pie has been ‘delicately handmade’ with prime cheddar, new potatoes, thyme and a ‘generous dollop of delicious Branston Pickle’.

The pies have then been adorned with a festive star-shaped top, making them perfect for a #Christmas Instagram pic.

Branston and Lily Vanilli have created the ultimate savoury Christmas snack to celebrate the beauty of the cheese and pickle combo – a classic food pairing loved by the nation.

Lily said she ‘loved experimenting’ with the new flavours featured in the mince pies, and she’s pretty happy with the outcome, adding: ‘The pies are a great celebration of the Christmas classic whilst heroing the cheese and pickle combination the nation loves.’

Nisha George, Senior Brand Manager at Branston said: ‘We know people love to indulge in their favourite foods at Christmas, so we wanted to give them a whole new take on the traditional cheeseboards and mince pies.

‘This Christmas, we’ve had a lot of fun taking the well-loved combination of cheese and pickle, and giving it a festive twist!’

The cheese and pickle mince pies will be available at Lily Vanilli’s bakery on Columbia Road every Sunday during December, and in November and December at Lily Vanilli’s Spitalfields stall for £2.50.

Personally, we’re thinking of ordering a few and leaving them out for Santa on Christmas eve. We’re sure he’s tired of the traditional mince pie by now.
