Arsenal ‘keeper reacts to being compared to Khune
Cape Town – South African sports journalist, Neal Collins took to Twitter on Thursday to commend Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune on his speedy recovery.
Although, in the process, the journalist seemed to take a dig at Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech.
This comes after the Kazier Chiefs 'keeper suffered a blow against Chippa United in the Telkom Knockout quarter-final match on Sunday.
According to Sport24, despite suffering a fracture to his face, Khune seems set to play in Bafana's clash against Senegal on Friday evening.
Sport24 also reported that Khune has requested a protective mask for the clash.
Collins tweeted "UNBELIEVABLE COURAGE: Takes a real hero to shrug off a facial fracture and get back in training unprotected 3 days later," adding that Arsenal's Petr Cech "still wears a scrum cap five years later."
Collins who has written for The Mirror, The Daily Mail and currently works for the Evening Standard as a sports journalist, got quite the reaction in return.
Cech, who has been rated as one of the best keepers in the world, tweeted, “So [email protected] you seriously believe that I’m wearing a HEADGEAR to protect a FACIAL injury?!!”

Without taking anything away from Khune's speedy recover, Cech couldn’t be more right to challenge Collins' ridiculous statement.
Cech suffered a major blow to his skull in 2006, fracturing his skull when his then team, Chelsea FC, played against Reading.
According to The Daily Mail, the injury saw Cech out for months, with the then 24-year-old having to undergo emergency brain surgery.
Hence, unlike Khune, who could wear a facial mask this evening, Cech has to wear protective headgear for the rest of his career.
See how the rest of Twitter jumped onto Cech's side, too:
