Soccer | City captain Johannes set to extend contract

Cape Town – Glyn Binkin, the agent of Robyn Johannes, has confirmed that talks are underway for the defender to extend his deal with Cape Town City when it expires in June.

The 31-year-old has become an influential member of Benni McCarthy's squad and was named as captain after Lebogang Manyama joined Turkish Super League side Konyaspor during the last transfer window.

Following two positive seasons with the Citizens during which time he helped them win the Telkom Knockout in 2016, it appears Johannes could be rewarded for his efforts with a new improved contract in the Mother City.

Binkin told Soccer Laduma: "I can confirm that we are at a preliminary stage in talks with Cape Town City FC regarding the extension of Robyn's contract.

"I'm sure that given the fact that Robyn is now captain of the team and a regular member of the starting line-up that City will see his value and reward him accordingly."

City next face league leaders Baroka FC at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in a Telkom Knockout round of 16 clash on Sunday.

Kick off is at 15:30.
