Shkodran Mustafi reveals what Unai Emery has improved since Arsene Wenger left Arsenal
The Gunners are currently on a run of 14 games unbeaten ahead of their Europa League clash with Sporting CP on Thursday evening.
Under Wenger, Arsenal were accused of being mentally fragile during high-profile matches but Mustafi believes Emery has given the players more positional awareness and claims the team showed significant improvement in the 1-1 draw with Liverpool last Sunday.
For me personally, the biggest thing was that hes someone who really knows what he wants from each player, said Mustafi.
He tells you exactly what he wants you to do, but gives you freedom to expose your talent.
When we dont have the ball, he tells you where to stand and how to get it back, when we have it, he gives you options you can use.
You can decide which option you choose.
For me its a good mix between freedom and discipline, and having the same plan in the whole team.
I think thats what we saw against Liverpool. That was the first game where I felt like we came out from the first minute and were everywhere until the 90th minute.
I feel like theres a good mix between discipline and freedom.
