Nabil Fekir is already thinking about leaving Lyon next summer with Chelsea ready to rival Bayern Munich for his signature, according to reports in France.
The 25-year-old playmaker looked certain to swap Lyon for Liverpool last summer, with the clubs agreeing a £53million deal and Fekir even undergoing a medical – until the Merseysiders dramatically pulled the plug.
He has struggled to hit the heights of last season, when he scored 18 times in Ligue 1 and laid on eight assists, but will be looking to make a big impact against Hoffenheim on Wednesday night.
As things stand, there are only two European teams currently monitoring him: Chelsea and Bayern Munich.
Blues boss Maurizio Sarri has made no secret of his desire to bring in more creative players in midfield, and Fekir fits the mould perfectly, with club scouts tracking his recent performances.
Although the France international netted against Manchester City in gameweek one, he has missed a number of games through injury – notably the away draw with Hoffenheim.
He has only netted twice this season so far in Ligue 1 as a result and knows he must up his game to propel Lyon up the table, with the side currently four points adrift of third place.
If he can impress enough, Fekir hopes to tempt suitors into bidding despite the injury issues that put Liverpool off.
