Manchester Uniteds owners see Paul Pogba as the future of the club and have reportedly told Ed Woodward the Frenchman is untouchable.

Pogba has found himself at odds with United manager Jose Mourinho this season, with the row playing out in the public sphere.

Problems began in the summer as Pogba sought to engineer a transfer to Barcelona with Mino Raiola in talks with United about a potential switch.

Mundo Deportivo claim there was no dispute about an asking price or agents fee, instead it was the Glazer family who stepped in.

The Glazers view Pogba as the clubs Lionel Messi and warned Woodward not to entertain any offers for his services.

Mourinho is under pressure at United to turn around the clubs fortunes after a dismal start to the Premier League season.

With three defeats already this campaign, United sit eighth in the table with just 13 points.

The storm over United has not been helped by the public fall-out between Pogba and Mourinho.

The pair conducted a disagreement in training in full view of TV cameras, as Pogba has continued to struggle to find consistency on the pitch.

Pressure on Mourinho was relieved slightly last week when United fought back from 2-0 down against Newcastle to win 3-2.

United resume action against Chelsea on 20 October at Stamford Bridge with Mourinho once again returning to his former club.
