Xherdan Shaqiri claims his relationship with Jurgen Klopp is perfect despite the Liverpool boss giving him a very public dressing down.
Klopp stormed onto the pitch moments after losing to Chelsea in the cup last month, and seemed furious as he confronted Shaqiri in full view of the cameras and the Anfield crowd.
Both the manager and player shrugged the incident off as nothing, and Shaqiri has continued to insist his bond with Klopp is as strong as ever.
I have a very good relationship with [Klopp], Shaqiri told Blick.
It is a lot of fun to work [with him]. We did not talk much about the League of Nations. I am happy. I think Im relatively close to the first eleven. Very close.
Shaqiri signed from Stoke in the summer and has been an instant hit with the Liverpool faithful for his energetic appearances from the bench.
The Switzerland internationals only start this season was against Southampton in a 3-0 Premier League win, and although Shaqiri starred in the first half Klopp decided to substitute the forward at half-time.
Shaqiri is battling with a host of exciting forwards at Liverpool for a place in Klopps side, with Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane ahead of him in the pecking order.
But the 27-year-old revealed his preferred position is the middle of the park as a playmaker.
It is certainly different if you as a player have such freedom [as a No.10], he said.
The trainer gives me the freedom and I try to use it so that I can help the team as much as possible. With decisive passes or with shots.
Against Portugal I almost had to play as right-back. I play where the coach sets me up. But sure, on the side you have more defensive work than in the middle.
I know that from Bayern Munich. There I also played as a full-back.
