The 22-year-old is set to leave Monaco this summer, but a move to the Premier League is seemingly off the table
Atletico Madrid are set to confirm the signing of Monaco forward Thomas Lemar, according to reports.
The 22-year-old, who was linked with Arsenal and Liverpool in the past, is set to sign with the LaLiga side and will apparently take the No.10 shirt.
According to lEquipe, the two sides have agreed a deal for the 22-year-old to leave for the Europa League winners.
It could turn out to be an extremely good week for Atletico boss Diego Simeone.
Reports from the Spanish capital indicate Antoine Griezmann will now stay at the club once the Lemar deal is officially done.
Griezmann is currently on international duty with the winger in Russia ahead of the World Cup and wanted significant investment in the squad.
According to French outlet Canal+ France, the Barcelona target wanted big-name signings and a significant salary hike to stay.
Speculation he could leave for Barca has intensified after a statement released on Tuesday suggested he could be off this summer.
He said: ““The decision has been taken but it is not the time or the place to talk about it.
“I am very sorry, I know you have all been waiting but I will not give my decision today.”
The arrival of Thomas Lemar could see Grizi stay in Madrid however.
