Chelsea interested in former Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri…and may offer David Luiz to sweeten the deal
It is widely accepted Antonio Conte will leave his post with the Blues, with Sarri the man the hierarchy at Stamford Bridge want
Chelsea will launch one final charm offensive to lure former Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri and may often David Luiz to sweeten the deal, according to reports.
After spending most of the 2017-18 in disarray, head coach Antonio Conte is set to leave Stamford Bridge, with Sarri seen as the ideal man to replace him.
Former Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti has replaced Sarri at the Serie A side, but the Italian side are holding out for some form of reimbursement.
Although Napoli are not set to receive any financial compensation from any potential club looking to appoint Sarri, they are reportedly holding out on the Premier league club for something to sweeten the deal.
And according to SportItalia, a deal for frozen-out defender David Luiz could be the catalyst to getting the deal over the line.
Although Luiz could have a future under new management at Stamford Bridge, it is unlikely the Blues are going to allow the player to hold up the deal.
Sarri is set to be offered a two-year deal with an option of a third at the Premier League side, although it is widely accepted this is his last chance to join the club.
If it all falls through yet again, Laurent Blanc is another name reportedly being considered as Antonio Contes replacement.
Luiz originally joined the west Londoners from Benfica in 2011, establishing himself as a fan favourite for his gung-ho approach to defending.
After leaving the club to join Paris Saint-Germain for a world record fee in 2014, Conte brought the 31-year-old back to Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2016.
However, since falling out with the Italian this season, a move away has been constantly mooted – with London rivals Arsenal reportedly considering a move last January.
