Since arriving at the Etihad in 2016, Guardiola has spent over £600million, his most expensive purchases being Aymeric Laporte, Benjamin Mendy and John Stones.
Citys spending has helped Guardiola transform an ageing squad into record-breaking title-winners and the former Barcelona manager intends on bolstering his squad this summer.
But he says he will only sign one or two players as even Manchester City do not have the funds to invest £300m every season.
Yaya [Toure] is leaving so we have to replace him, and maybe another one, Guardiola told Sky Sports.
One or two more, no more. We cannot invest…maybe people dont believe me but we dont have the money to invest £300m every season.
Asked which areas City will target this summer, the manager added: Maybe in front, but I dont know.
We have to think and talk more with [City director] Begiristain Txiki and the staff. Its four competitions, we need new faces to compete with the guys from this season.
Winning 32 of their 38 league games this season – and scoring 100 goals in the process – City broke a number of records as they stormed to the title.
But Guardiola says it will be difficult for his team to defend their crown next season. Last seasons champions Chelsea finished fifth this term.
He said: For no team to do it for a long time shows how difficult it is. The target is there but the other teams and contenders are trying too. The target is to win.
It happened with Barcelona and Bayern Munich. I am curious how we are going to run without the bull. That is our main target.
That would be a good signal if we are still a humble team with desire and show how we run back.
Normally after winning you say now I dont run; this is the moment you are not going to win. We will try to focus on that next season.
If we dont win back to back we will congratulate the champion like we did last season against Chelsea and improve.
