Group of tourists almost FLATTENED as giant cruise ship pulled into sea in dramatic video
Mounted on a set of giant rollers, the huge vessel is manoeuvred into the water using large machinery, sliding it into the ocean.
An excited group of people can be seen watching from the safety of a concrete jetty, some taking photos and videos of the impressive sight.
But as the boat hits the water, it sends a giant wave cascading towards the nearby pier where people are watching.
HEADS UP: The launch causes an enormous wave to crash over the side of the dock
It smashes against the jetty, soaking onlookers in the front row before spilling out across the platform.
Some of those watching manage to escape but others are left drenched in ankle-deep water.
It is unclear where exactly the footage was filmed.
Thankfully, nobody was injured during the incident, which has now been seen by more than 50,000 people since it was posted on image-sharing site Imgur this week.
MONSTER: The giant vessel was lowered into the sea using heavy machinery
Explaining why the boat was launched at such an angle, one commenter said: “Bow first would take the bulk of the weight and plunge far deeper, require deeper water [to launch].
“It would also make the ship less stable and it could capsize.”
It comes after similarly dramatic footage showed a giant boat almost being snapped in half by terrifying waves that threatened capsize the vessel entirely.
